Little poems about big things
Sky, Death and the Internet
Excitingly, I am performing some family friendly poems for Saturday night’s Winterheat Festival in Newcastle, so naturally I decided to combine this assignment with my Monday night Substack. Please read them below, and let me know if you have any more big topics you’d like me to write little things about.
Ocean
Do you think it’s quiet,
at the bottom of the ocean?
The seaweed keeps secrets and
the bones rest easy.
The Dictionary
Every real word in the world
smashed together in the most boring way
(alphabetically)
Time
some days it flies
some days it drags
but you can never catch it
because it is invisible
The Internet
click…
click…
click…
Help! I have become depressed.
Death
Natural as it may be,
it terrifies me.
Sky
Be ye ant
or be ye man
look up as much
as ye can
Money
For what it’s worth,
it’s worthless,
but the landlord disagrees.
Enormous Mammals
The bull in the china shop
is just the elephant in the room.
Love
I have it for a few.
I want it from all.

I think that's a bit rough on the dictionary. It's under orders after all.
